New Year, New Opportunities!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the W(here) Festival Blog!

If this is your first time here, have a look around!  More information is being added weekly, for example…  this week you will find a Call for Submissions in the Participate section of the blog. The W(here) Festival is looking for community members and artists to submit an idea for a field trip or performative walk in Pictou County. Walking in Place is a special local programming section of the festival! Exciting!! The deadline for that submission is February 21st, so get your idea in soon.

In other news, I am busy getting the word out there to potential local sponsors, securing donations of materials and looking for great locations to host our programming. If you would like to know more about this aspect of the festival, please visit the Sponsorship section.

In addition, I am in conversation with visiting artists Marlene Creates and Sheilah Wilson, working through ideas for two very exciting projects to take place during the festival. If you are interested in learning more about their work… visit the Artists section. (More information coming soon on this)

Last but not least! I will be in Pictou February 13 to 19 to meet with local community members, businesses and touch base face to face with you all.

On Thursday February 16th please join me at Carvers Coffee House in Pictou for a social meet and greet. At the meeting, I will be presenting where the festival is at in terms of programming, and letting local artists and interested folk in on how they can participate or  volunteer. I hope to see you there.

Slainte! (and Happy Robert Burns Day!)

Mary MacDonald, curator
